Jack Carey:
Jack was born and raised in New York, where ge swam for New York Sharks Aquatics and attended Tappan Zee high school. During high school, Jack was a five time state champion individually, and helped his team to win two state titles, in 2011 and 2012. Jack was also a five time All-American as well as the 2013 County Swimmer of the Year. While in high school he also played lacrosse, but in coming to Duke he decided to stick solely with swimming, training sprint free.
Club:
Jack was a part of New York Sharks Aquatics where he swam for Todd Langenmeyer, Daniel Rafferty and Hohn Alaimo. At NY Sharks Aquatics, Jack was a Summer Junior Nationals qualifier in the 50, 100 and 200 free.
College:
2013-2014:
During his freshman year at Duke, Jack was a part of the ACC Championship team where he swam the 50 free, 100 free and 100 breast. Jack had best times in all three events, and was also a part of the 200 free relay and 400 free relay at the championship meet.
Personal:
Jack is a part of Navy ROTC at Duke where he is majoring in Philosophy. When he graduates he will commission as and ensign in the US Navy, and once he is out of the Navy, Jack hopes to work in international legal human rights.
