Jasmine Nocentini was born in Padua, Italy.

At the age of 12, she left Italy, moving first to Panama with her family and then to the United States.

Nocentini swam two years at Florida International before transferring to Northwestern for the 2022-23 season. She ended her senior season at Northwestern early with a shoulder injury at a point when she was the top-ranked swimmer in the Big Ten in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke. Even without swimming at Big Tens or NCAAs, she finished the season ranked 10th in the country in the 100 breaststroke and 11th in the 50 free.

She currently swims with the University of Virginia (UVA) where she is coached by Todd DeSorbo.

In Italy, she is a member of Team Veneto.

In 2023 she made her debut with the Italian national swimming team at the European Short Course Championships, which took place in Otopeni (ROU).

In Otopeni he won:

  • gold with mixed 4×50 medley relay (Lorenzo Mora, Nicolò Martinenghi, Silvia Di Pietro, Jasmine Nocentini 1:36.58)

College Swimming

2023-24 (UVA)

At the UVA/Texas dual meet, Nocentini was swift, clocking a 21.89 50 free leading off the 200 free relay and a 58.19 100 breast on day 1. On day 2, Nocentini was 47.82 in the 100 free.

With SC Euros soon, Nocentini swam just relays at the Tennessee invite. She posted promising times, leading off the 200 and 400 free relays in PBs of 21.45 and 46.75 respectively. She also clocked 50 and 100 breast splits of 26.06 and 57.56 respectively.

In the lead-up to ACCs, Nocentini swam at the Cavalier Invite. There, she clocked a 57.89 100 breast, a new PB, and tying Alex Walsh’s pool record set in prelims.

Nocentini had a huge impact for UVA at ACCs. On night one, she clocked a 25.49 50 breast split, the 3rd-fastest ever, to pull UVA to a 200 medley relay title despite not using either of the Walshes.

At prelims the next morning, Nocentini popped a 21.30 50 free to chop .15 seconds off her PB. Leading off in the 200 free relay that night, Nocentini was a mere 21.55 as she missed her turn somewhat. Despite that, UVA still broke the NCAA record with a 1:23.63 thanks in part to Gretchen Walsh’s 19.95 second leg. Nocentini bounced back from her leadoff with a 21.13 in the 50 free final for 2nd behind G. Walsh.

In the 100 breast, Nocentini clocked a PB of 57.73 in prelims before lowering her mark to 57.01 for the win. Not long after, she split 57.82 on the breast leg of the 400 medley relay which UVA won by 6 seconds. On the final day, Nocentini took 2nd in the 100 free with a 46.78, just off her PB. She again just missed her PB leading off the winning 400 free relay in 46.77.

Nocentini opened her NCAA Meet with a speedy 25.72 50 breast split as UVA took the 200 medley relay. The next morning, Nocentini made it back 3rd in the 50 free with a 21.29. In the final, she shaved .05 seconds off her PB with a 21.10 to remain 3rd, a mere .01 seconds back of 2nd-place Katherine Berkoff. She then proceeded to lead off in 21.26 on UVA’s victorious 200 free relay.

In the 100 breast prelims, Nocentini clocked another 100 breast PB, her 5th of the season, with a 56.96. That was good for the 2nd seed behind Mona McSharry (56.79). In the final, Nocentini was in the lead by the 50 with a 26.24 and never looked back, clocking a 56.09 to become the NCAA champion and the 2nd-fastest performer all-time. She then helped UVA to the 400 medley relay title with a 56.34 breast split.

On the final day, Nocentini made the 100 free A final with a 46.90 and then took 4th in the final with a 47.00. She wrapped things up with a 47.06 leadoff on UVA’s victorious 400 free relay.

For her efforts, Nocentini won the Swammy for Women’s NCAA Breakout Swimmer of the Year.
