Jessica Woolfe has raced her way onto the Bulldog stage after just her freshman year swimming for UNC Asheville. Her freestyle, backstroke and butterfly sprinting has assisted the Blue and White to many regular season dual meet wins.
Woolfe grew up in Elmhurst, Illinois with parents Julie and John and siblings Callan, Ryan, Brooke and Abby. Pets Frank and George are also valued members of the family. Woolfe started swimming at age 8 and continued on to successful club and high school swimming careers.
At York High School, Woolfe qualified for the High School State Championship meet her sophomore, junior and senior years. Her senior year, Woolfe not only qualified for the 100 backstroke, but won the sectional meet in that event as well. Swimming for West Swim Club, Woolfe qualified and swam at National Club Swimming Association Junior Nationals in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
She succeeded academically as a member of the National Honors Society and on the High Honor Role her sophomore, junior and senior years. Signing with the Bulldogs offered Woolfe the opportunity to continue her academic and athletic success in college.
Woolfe stood out as a freshman in sprint backstroke and freestyle events for The Bulldogs. Woolfe scored top 3 points at dual meets throughout the season. At the Georgia Tech Mid Season Invitational, Woolfe raced to a season best time of 54.55 in the 100 freestyle. She continued to succeed in the pool leading up to the 2016 Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Championships.
Woolfe stepped up as a member of many A relays for the Blue and White at the 2016 CCSA Championships. She helped the 200 medley relay team earn a Varsity Record and valuable points. Additionally, she earned 6th place points as a member of the 400 freestyle relay team. Individually. Woolfe earned a season best time in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall at 24.48. Woolfe was one of only two asheville swimmers to qualify for the B final of the 100 backstroke.
