Josh Schneider

Josh Schneider
Born Jan. 11, 1988 Josh Schneider is an American swimmer originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born to Greg and Sue Schneider — his father is a retired firefighter, and his mother is a business owner. Schneider attended Cincinnati, and graduated in 2010.

Cincinnati College
Schneider attended Cincinnati — choosing to stay in his hometown of Ohio. He studied Business, and plans to pursue a career in marketing post swimming. Schneider was the ultimate sprinter in college. He was a two-time NCAA All-American; he first qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2008, finishing 14th in the 50 freestyle. But in 2010, during his senior year, Schneider was the NCAA Champion in the 50 freestyle.

International breakout
In 2010 Schneider had his first major breakout swim at the FINA World Short Course Championships when he took bronze in the 50m freestyle. He only qualified for the final after winning a swim-off for the last position.

First post-collegiate season
Just after his collegiate career, Schneider competed worldwide in 2011. He swam at the National Championships, finishing eighth overall, and travelled to the World University Games where he finished fifth in the 50m freestyle.

Doha
At the 2012 FINA World Short Course Championships in Doha Schneider finished sixth overall in the 50m freestyle. But two years later he returned to Doha for the 2014 FINA Short Course Worlds again. This time Schneider grabbed three relay medals, including a gold and a new World Record.

2015 world rankings
Although most of Schneider’s headlining swims happened in the 50 freestyle, he’s ranked among 2015’s top-10 fastest swimmer in the 100m backstroke.

Dog lover
When it comes to some fun facts about Schneider, the first that comes to mind is his love for dogs. Schneider has owned a dog, and his favorite charity is Great Dane and Friends.
