Marie Wattel is a competitive swimmer who represents France internationally. She competed at the 2016 Olympics, and won a world championship bronze as a part of France’s mixed 4×100 free relay.

2016 Olympics (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)
At her 1st Olympics, Wattel finished 24th in the 100 fly (58.90).
2017 European Short Course Championships (Copenhagen, Denmark)
Wattel won silver in the 100 fly (55.97) and bronze in the 4×50 medley relay at the European Championships, marking her 1st major international medals.
2018 European Long Course Championships (Glasgow, Scotland)
Wattel won gold with both the 4×100 free and 4×100 mixed free relay teams. In the 4×100 free finals, she swam the leadoff leg followed by Charlott Bonnet, Margaux Fabre and Beryl Gastaldello. In the mixed 4×100 finals, Wattel swam alongside Jeremy Stravius, Mehdy Metella and Charlotte Bonnet.
2019 World Championships (Gwangju, Korea)
Wattel picked up a bronze medal as part of France’s 4×100 mixed free relay team in Gwangju. She swam the anchor leg behind Clement Mignon, Mehdy Metella and Charlotte Bonnet.
Individually, Wattel set 2 national records in the 50 fly, both in semi-finals and finals of the event, ultimately finishing in 5th place at 25.50, just .03 away from medaling. She also placed 8th in the 100 fly (57.23), after going a lifetime best of 57.00 in semi-finals.
2022 World Championships
Marie Wattel had a very quick start in Budapest, going 56.2 in the 100 fly semis for a new PB and qualifying as the second seed heading into the final during night 1. On night 2, Wattel again went a new PB, going 56.14 to maintain her 2nd place and earn silver.
