Meghan Small is a competitive swimmer who represents the United States internationally. Coming out of high school, Meghan Small was SwimSwam’s #1 Recruit, having already won a silver medal at the 22015 Pan Am Games as a junior in high school. Small committed to swim at the University of Tennessee.

2016-2017
Small made an enormous impact in her first year as a Volunteer. She won the SEC title in the 200 IM in a school record 1:53.31, as well as finished third in the 400 IM (school record 4:04.93) and fourth in the 200 back (school record 1:51.91) at the SEC meet. Small was also part of the third place 200 free relay, third place 400 medley relay and sixth place 800 free relay teams.
At the NCAA Champs as a rookie, Small finished ninth in the 200 IM (1:53.91) and 400 IM (school record 4:04.30), as well as 29th in the 200 back (1:53.72).
2017-2018
Small continued to be a weapon for the Vols as she switched up her primary events, trading the 200 back for the 200 fly. At SEC’s, Small placed third in the 200 IM, fourth in the 400 IM and fourth in 200 fly. She also swam the anchor leg on the SEC runnerup 400 free relay.
At NCAA’s, she placed fifth in the 200 IM (1:53.18), 16th in the 200 fly (1:54.80) and 23rd in the 400 IM (4:09.63), and was a member of the fourth place 800 free relay and sixth place 400 free relay.
2018-2019
Small continued to flew her versatility, switching her primary events once again and trading the 200 fly and 400 IM for the 200 back and 200 free. This strategy was a success, as she was the runnerup in the 200 free (1:43.37) at the SEC meet.
At the same meet, she snapped the SEC meet and Tennessee records with a gold medal 200 IM (1:51.62) and was part of the SEC champion 200 medley relay, which set a school and SEC Championship meet record.
At the NCAA’s, Small swam the leadoff leg for the pool record setting 200 medley relay team which won the NCAA title. She also placed seventh in the 200 IM (1:53.57), ninth in the 200 back (1:51.13) and 22nd in the 200 free (1:45.07).
National/International Competition
2015 Pan American Games
At the 2015 Pan Ams, Meghan Small swam the 200 IM. As a 17-year-old, Small won silver with a time of 2:11.26.
2016 Olympic Trials
After a successful showing in 2015, Small competed for a spot on the US Olympic Team in Omaha. She finished 7th overall in the 200 IM (2:13.31).
2018 Summer Nationals
At the 2018 nationals in Irvine, Small placed 5th in the 200 IM (2:11.65) and 16th in the 200 fly (2:11.39). For her finish in the 200 IM, Small qualified for her 2nd Pan American Games.
2019 Pan American Games
At her 2nd Pan Ams, Small won 2 medals. In the 200 IM, Small touched for 2nd behind USA teammate Alex Walsh in a time of 2:11.36. In the 200 fly, Small earned a bronze, touching at 2:12.51.
