Michael Jensen

Michael Jensen is a sprint freestyle and butterfly specialist from Upper Dublin, Pennsylvania.

University of California, Berkeley

Jensen decided to move across the country to swim under Dave Durden at the University of California. He joined the Bears as one of the top recruits in the nation and looked to make an immediate impact in the sprint freestyle and butterfly events.

2019

Jensen closed his junior season as a member of the NCAA champion 200 free relay, the third place 400 free relay and the seventh place 400 medley relay team. Individually, he finished ninth in the 50 free (19.15) and 21st in the 100 free (42.32).

Jensen swam the third leg of the Pac-12 champion 200 free relay and the anchor leg of the title-winning 400 medley relay. Individually, he finished third in the 50 free (19.30), 13th in the 100 fly (47.37) at the conference meet.

2018

Jensen was a part of third place 200 free relay, third place 400 free relay and sixth place 800 free relay teams at the NCAA Championships. Individually, he placed 19th in the 50 free (19.27), 19th in the 200 free (1:34.23) and 21st in the 100 free (42.60)

At the Pac-12 Championships, Jensen two titles with the 200 free relay and 800 free relay teams. He also finished fifth in the 50 free (19.19) and 100 free (42.67) and 11th in the 100 fly (46.44).

2017

Jensen swam on four of Cal’s relay teams and in three individual events at the NCAA Championships to wrap his first season with the Bears.  He was a member of the national runnerup 400 medley relay, the third place 200 free relay, fourth place 800 free relay and fourth place 400 free relay teams. The rookie also placed 15th in the 50 free (19.45), 21st in the 100 free (42.78) and 27th in the 200 free (1:34.39) at the NCAA meet.

Jensen made an impact at his first Pac-12 Championship meet as part of three title winning relay teams: 200 free, 800 free and 400 medley and the third place 400 free relay. Individually, he placed third in the 50 free (19.36), fourth in the 100 free and seventh in the 200 free (1:34.61).

International Career

Jensen was a member of the USA Junior National Team in the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

2015 World Junior Championships

n 2015 he made his international debut at the Junior World Championships where he claimed a silver medal as a member of the 400 meter freestyle relay.

At the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials, Jensen swam the 50 and 100 meter freestyle and 100 meter butterfly.

2018 Short Course World Championships

In Hangzhou, Jensen garnered his first senior national medals as he swam prelims on the 4×50 and 4×100 free relays, both of which went onto win gold medals in finals.
