Tate Jackson is a competitive swimmer who represents the United States internationally.
College (Texas)
2015-2016
In his freshman season, Jackson won a Big-12 title in the 50 free (19.25) and added 2 more top-8 finishes in the 100 free (4th, 43.74) and 100 fly (7th, 47.63) at the same meet. At the NCAA Championships that year, Jackson finished 20th in the 50 free (19.56) and 29th in the 100 free (43.33).
2016-2017
His sophomore year, Jackson won his first national title as a part of the longhorns’ 200 free relay, which also set the pool record in Indianapolis. At the same meet, Jackson placed 16th in the 50 free (19.69), 17th in the 100 free (42.61) and 44th in the 100 fly (47.53). At the Big-12 Championships earlier that year, Jackson finished third in the 100 free (42.79) and fourth in the 50 free (19.52).
2017-2018
Jackson’s role on the team became bigger his junior year, as he was part of the fourth place 200 free relay and 400 free relay teams, the fifth place 200 medley relay and ninth place 400 medley relay at the NCAA Championships. Individually, he finished seventh in the 100 free (41.81) and 18th in the 50 free (19.23), garnering his first top-8 finish at an NCAA’s.
2018-2019
In his senior year, Jackson was ranked as one of the top sprinters in the nation. He was a member of the NCAA champion 400 free relay team, the third place 200 free relay and 400 medley relay teams and the fourth place 200 medley relay at the NCAA Championships. At that meet, he also finished seventh in the 50 free (19.03), 25th in the 100 free (42.44) and 35th in the 100 fly (46.25)
National/International Competition
2018 Summer Nationals
At the summer nationals in Irvine, Tate Jackson placed 9th in the 100 free with a time of 48.20, which would have placed 2nd in the top heat had he qualified in the morning. Nevertheless, his performance from the B-heat qualified him to swim the 100 free individually at the 2019 World University Games in Naples, Italy.
2019 World University Games
Tate Jackson started the 2019 WUG’s on the men’s 4×100 free relay. After leading off the prelims relay in 48.36, Jackson helped USA take home gold with a split of 48.00 in finals at the anchor spot. Individually, Jackson swam the 100 free and touched for 2nd in the final (48.29) behind his American teammate, Zach Apple.
