Yui Ohashi is Japanese swimmer and 2020 Olympic champion.
2017 World Championships
Ohashi became the first Japanese woman to break the 2:08 mark in the 200M Individual Medley. She finished 0.91 seconds behind gold medalist Katinka Houssza.
2018 Pan Pacific Championships
In her first race of pan pacs, Yui touched for gold as she won the women’s 400 IM in a time of 4:33.77, nearly a second ahead of 2nd place. Yui successfully swept the IM event, as on day 3 she won the 200 IM with a time of 2:08.16, breaking the Pan Pac record set that morning by her fellow Japanese swimmer Miho Teramura, by nearly 2 seconds.
2018 Asian Games
Yui continued her gold streak in the 400 IM in Jakarta, touching first in 4:34.58 to become the Asian champion. She also earned silvers in the 200 IM and 4×200 free relay.
2019 World Championships
After being DQ’ed in the 200 IM, Ohashi came back strong in the 400 IM, earning bronze with a time of 4:32.33.
2021 Olympic Games
Ohashi backed up her world title in the 400 IM on the first night of her home Olympics, touching first in the 400 IM final in Tokyo to take home her first Olympic medal, a gold, with a personal best time of 4:32.08.
Ohashi was back in the 200 IM, swimming a perfect race to get her hand on the wall first by just .13, completing the IM sweep at her home Olympic Games.
