It was obvious that his team will miss him, Obviously, it is, “with great regret that the club must say goodbye to Bo after 18 1/2 years at the club, where a myriad of impressive results have been Bos constant mark. The club also wishes Bo Congratulations with the new job, and obviously we have every respect for, he has chosen to say yes to this amazing opportunity.”

“We are confident that Bo will be missed by many – especially the swimmers at Elite 1 where he has his day and primary work. It is now the club’s natural challenge to find a full replacement for the job, in cooperation with all the other trainer team can meet the club and swimmers ambitions.”

Jacobsen was enticed by the Finnish job, but had a hard time deciding to leave the team or not, “”The 18.5 years of employment in Esbjerg has been a long journey filled with exciting experiences and cooperation with many interesting people. It has been a difficult decision to seek new challenges, but as the post of national coach in Finland is tailor-made for me I took a chance. ”

A huge loss for Danish swimming!
3 years ago Flemming Poulsen left Denmark for Switcherland, and thus Denmark lost its only club coach with extensive Olympic experience. Now we Loose Bo who is undoubtely the most succesfull coach at the club level over the last 20 years, winning more championships than anyone else, and constantly producing international swimmers.
Good luck to you Bo!

Wow, big move! Bo is well respected as one of the best, if not THE best club coach in Denmark. The Finland job is interesting as they were accepting people who would do it “part time” but it sounds from this that Bo is fully committing himself. Plenty of talent in Finland but not a lot of it sustaining past 18-19 years of age, maybe he can change that.
