Bob Bowman to Attend 2016 Maria Lenk Trophy in Rio

USA 2016 Olympic Coach; Bob Bowman is set to attend the 2016 Maria Lenk Trophy meet, which will serve as the official test meet for the 2016 Olympic Games. The meet will run from April 15-April 20 2016, at the 2016 Olympic Aquatic Stadium.

This year the meet is open to foreign swimmers and is set to have a lot of foreign media coverage. Registration ends on March 31, 2016, for foreign teams to be able to enter the meet that will follow event procedures very similar to those of the Olympics. So far a total of eight teams have registered for the competition, including swimmers from Japan and China.

Bowman is taking advantage of the meet being open to foreigners and attending the meet, as he will have the opportunity to scan the Olympic venue and be there in person to see the logistics and make notes on the technical things that can benefit his team.

I think just Bowman. Sounds like this trip is more in his capacity as US men’s head coach than as Phelps’ coach.
