Boglarka Kapas Feeling “Good”, Dryland Training After Positive COVID-19 Test

After revealing that she had tested positive for COVID-19 on March 31, Hungarian world champion Boglarka Kapas is still showing no symptoms and is even doing some dryland training at home.

Kapas, the 2019 World Champion in the women’s 200 butterfly, was one of nine positive tests that came out of Hungarian Swimming’s training camps.

“I still feel good,” wrote the 26-year-old in an Instagram post on Friday. “Training is also important during home quarantine, now instead of water, I pace on land, thus also fighting the virus.”

Prior to winning the World Championship title last summer, Kapas also won an Olympic bronze medal in 2016 in the women’s 800 free and a World bronze medal in the 1500 free in 2015. The Debrecen native is also a seven-time European champion (six long course, one short course).

Among the others with confirmed cases of COVID-19 Dominik KozmaRichard Bohus and David Horvath. While none of these athletes has posted a recent update on their condition, they were all asymptomatic shortly after their positive tests became public.

Additionally, Daniel Sos, who is the son of the Hungarian National Team head coach Csaba Sos, and swimmers Peter Nagy and Tamas Horvath have also tested positive, though they haven’t shown any symptoms either.

On April 1, the Hungarian Swimming Federation released a statement order a full training closure for the athletes who attended these training camps for two weeks.

As of Saturday, Hungary has 678 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 32 deaths.

I believe Csaba Soos, who is the captain of the Hungarian Swimming Federation, is not infected. His son Daniel Sos tested positive Daniel is not in Hungary, he is staying and swimming in the US

Glad she’s OK and would be expected since 99.8% of the those in that age group are not at risk for fatality according to the WHO. Not to say that one couldn’t have a rough time with it, so still good that she bounced back quickly.
