Boise State Cruises Past Nevada for 24th-Straight Home Win

BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State swimming and diving team racked up its 24th-consecutive home victory Saturday afternoon with a 30-point win, 165-35, over the visiting Nevada Wolf Pack. Boise State’s win streak now extends into its 10th season dating back to Feb.7, 2009. The Broncos improved to 6-3 overall this season with the win at the West Family YMCA and Boise City Aquatic Center.

The Blue and Orange claimed both relay victories in the meet with the 200 medley relay A team (Ally Kleinsorgen, Laura Williams, Emmie Jennings, Abbey Sorensen) taking the with a 1:43.05. The Boise State 400 freestyle relay A team (Cody Evans, Robin Pinger, Jennings and Sorensen) also won clocking a 3:24.63.

The divers had a solid day as the four Broncos combined for 11 team-points, three NCAA Zone qualifying scores and three career-best scores. Senior Cassidy Bose led the way on the 3-meter springboard tallying a career-high and NCAA Zone score of 299.48.

Freshman Marti Erlam recorded two NCAA Zone qualifying scores, first on the 3-meter springboard with a 293.78, followed by a 286.58 on the 1-meter springboard to place second.

Taylor Clark scored her second-best career score on the 1-meter with a 240.83, while Tatum Thompkins had a big day recording career-best on both springboards with a 249.90 on the 3-meter and a 235.80 on the 1-meter.

Senior Abbey Sorensen led the way for the swimmers recording two individual victories in the 50 freestyle (23.11) and 200 backstroke (2:00.29). She was also apart of both relay team victories in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle.

Ally Kleinsorgen tallied a win in the 100 back (55.06) while recording two fourth-place finishes in the 50 free (23.87) and 100 butterfly (56.88). The senior was also swam the first leg of the winning 200 medley relay team.

Robin Pinger won the 100 free with a 50.80, in addition, she placed third in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.64) and in the 100 fly (56.16). Pinger was also a member of the winning 400 free relay team.

Senior Laura Williams earned the win in the 200 breast clocking a 2:18.32. She placed fourth in the 100 breast (1:04.74) and was the second leg of the winning 200 medley relay team.

Alyssa Schultz turned in a career-best for the 1,000 free (10:6.57) while taking second.

Freshman Lauren Vitort clocked a 1:51.35 to place second in the 200 free and took third in the 500 free (5:0519).

Emmie Jennings placed second in the 100 fly (55.96) and third in the 50 free (23.64). She was also a member of both winning relay teams.

Freshman Madesyn Ronquillio turned in two second-place finishes clocking a 56.40 in the 100 back and a 2:00.93 in the 200 back.

Brittany Wen took second in the 200 fly with a 2:04.59 and the 400 individual medley with a 4:31.41.

Mandy Barnes was third in the 200 fly clocking a 2:05.89.

Lucia Davis recorded a 5:04.98 to place second in the 500 freestyle.

Hayley Hill placed third in the 1,000 free with a 10:26.87 and fourth in the 500 free (5:06.67).

Cody Evans brought in two third-place results in the 200 free (1:51.36) and 100 free (51.50).  She also swam the second leg of the winning 400 free relay team.

The won over Nevada wraps up the fall 2018 portion of the schedule for the Broncos, they will return to action January 18 and 19 at Wyoming.

BOISE, Idaho – The Nevada swim and dive team fell to the Boise State Broncos in its first dual loss of the season on Saturday afternoon. The Broncos outscored the Pack, 165-135.

“We competed hard and winning nine of sixteen events, shows this team has the talent and is much improved from last year, said head coach Brendon Bray. “It just was not enough today against Boise State. I look forward to seeing them again at conference and use this meet to motivate.”

Junior Andressa Cholodovskis continues to lead the Pack in the 200 free and 100 fly. The junior claimed both individual events with times of 1:49.89 and 55.41 while also participating in the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay.

Joining Cholodovskis in the 200 medley relay was Imogen Watson, Jamie Reynolds and Rebecca Murray. The squad finished second with a time of 1:43.35. Reynolds, Murray, Cholodovskis and Caitlyn Richardson also finished second in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:26.25.

Murray picked up second place in two individual events, the 100 free (51.03) and 50 free (23.38). Reynolds finished fourth in the 100 free with a time of 51.72 while Richardson came in fifth in 51.88. Richardson also finished fourth in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.36.

Caitlyn McHugh took her individual event win in the 1000 free with a time of 10:24.94.

Freshman Julia Adamczyk recorded a first place finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:01.81, a first in the 400 IM in 4:28.25 and first in the 200 fly in 2:02.82. Fellow freshman, Lindsey Soule finished sixth in the 200 backstroke while sophomore Watson took fifth with a time of 2:05.55. Watson also finished third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.90.

Donna dePolo came out on top in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.51, while Reynolds took second with a time of 1:03.55. The sophomore took second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:18.82.

Toma Shmitova, Linnea Sorensen and Victoria Rice all competed in the diving events, 1-meter and 3-meter. Shmitova took first in the 1-meter with a score of 304.05, Sorensen won the 3-meter with a score of 336.38. Shmitova finished second in the 3-meter while Sorensen was third in the 1-meter. Rice finished fifth in the 3-meter and fifth in the 1-meter respectively.

The Pack will now break for semester and return to action on January 5, 2019 when they compete in the San Diego Shootout.
