Boise State Women Take Down Oregon State in Corvallis

Boise State traveled to Corvallis, Oregon on Friday to battle the Oregon State Beavers on their home turf. The Broncos won all but four events and downed the Beavers, 178-84.

Brittany Aoyama (25.69), Emma Chard (30.22), Jessica Bottelberghe (23.73), and Sam Wicks (22.80) started things off for the Broncos with a combined 1:42.44 in the 200 medley relay. Oregon State countered with 1:46.28 from Amani Amr, Allie Kilroy, Andrea Young, and Claire McLaggan.

Sammy Harrison of Oregon State won the first of her two events with a 10:09.77 in the 1000 free. She also went a 4:50.61 to win the 500 free. Boise State’s Blake Balogh was second in both events (10:17.90 and 5:01.47). Harrison took a second in the 200 free to Boise State’s Felicity Cann, 1:50.30 to 1:51.30.

The Broncos’ Wicks follow up on her 22.8 relay anchor with two individual titles: she went 55.24 to take the 100 back, and 23.29 to win the 50 free. Oregon State’s Amr took second in the back with 57.33.

Chard of Boise State won the 100 breast in 1:04.81, 14/100 ahead of teammate Heather Harper. Oregon State’s Kilroy (1:05.45) and Czsarina Isleta (1:05.58) came next, touching almost simultaneously.

The Broncos’ Bottelberghe raced to a 2:03.80 in the 200 fly. Oregon State’s Brooke Meyer went 2:07.51 for second.

Aoyama led a couple of 1-2-3 Boise State sweeps. First, in the 100 free, she won with 50.58. Teammates Chard (52.05) and Cann (52.41) were next, and both came in ahead of Oregon State’s 4 Constance Toulemonde (53.07). Aoyama also won the 100 fly with 54.06, as fellow Broncos Katelyn Martin (56.53) and Bottelberghe (56.86) rounded off the podium. Young of Oregon State took fourth with 57.96.

The Beavers’ Amr avenged her second-place finish in the 100 back with a victory in the 200; she went 2:03.66 to claim the top spot. Nikki Cannon of Boise State finished second in 2:04.17.

Isleta eked out a win over Boise State’s Emily Mathis in the 200 breast, 2:19.57 to 2:19.66. She was the highest-scoring Beaver in the 400 IM, touching in 4:34.95. Boise State’s Whitney Jorgensen led a 1-2-3-4 Bronco finish with 4:28.90.

The Broncos ended the meet as they’d begun it, with a relay victory. Aoyama (50.05), Martin (51.76), Sydney Johansen (51.24), and Wicks (50.66) closed out the meet with a 3:23.68 in the 400 free relay. Boise State’s relay consisted of Jessica Bottelberghe, Harper, Morgan McClure, and Monica Bottelberghe.
