The Texas A&M Aggies have earned a verbal commitment from a second sprint freestyler in the class of 2015. This one is Bolles School senior Claire Rasmus.
Rasmus has yards bests of 23.42/50.49/1:48.01 in the 50/100/200 freestyles, and is very good in long course too where she’s been 57.19/2:01.59 in the 100 and 200 meter races.
She joins Lexie Lupton in her commitment. Lupton is 22.8/49.86 in the 50 and 100 yard freestyles, as the two should move forward as part of A&M’s relay nucleus over the next four seasons.
As discussed with Lupton committed, A&M’s free relays are on the tail end of their college careers, but Caitlynn Moon and Beryl Gastaldello have just started their freshman years at A&M, and with the addition of Lupton and Rasmus, there shouldn’t be much drop-off when the Aggies graduate Kelli Benjamin, Lili Ibanez, Sarah Henry, and Sammie Bosma graduate.
Rasmus stands 5’10” tall, and is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. She placed 2nd at the 2014 Florida 1A (small schools) high School State Championship meet in the 100 free. In 2011, as a freshman at Dominican High School, she was the Louisiana Division I State Champion in the 100 free.
I think you mean freshman Kristin Malone (23.1/49.4/1:47.7) if you’re talking all free relays. Caitlynn Moon is most definitely a pure distance swimmer.
