Bolles to Install Myrtha Pool Used in ISL Las Vegas Finale

The Bolles School will win big with a new pool used in a championship event in Las Vegas. Myrtha Pools has installed a temporary, state-of-art 25-meter pool at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino for the International Swimming League (ISL) Championship on December 20 and 21, 2019. Following the event, the pool will be disassembled and shipped to Jacksonville as Bolles transforms the Lobrano Pool into a new and improved permanent championship venue. The installation of the pool at Bolles is expected to begin in late spring 2020.

In addition to the School’s new pool, the ISL event will coincidentally feature two Bolles Swimming legends who will be first to use the pool.  Alumnus Ryan Murphy ’13, swimming for the LA Current, and former Bolles Shark Caeleb Dressel, swimming for the Cali Condors.

All pool components were shipped to Las Vegas from Myrtha headquarters in Italy and all mechanical components were sourced from Neptune Benson and installed by California Commercial Pools from Glendora, California.  After the ISL event, the pools and all mechanical equipment will be dismantled, repackaged and shipped for final permanent installation at Bolles, where they will be reconfigured into a 25-meter x 25-yard pool, with all deep water for swim competition and diving.

Myrtha’s sustainability and long-term durability transcends the application at Mandalay Bay, as its patented lamination process of a hard-bond PVC to stainless steel promotes lower operational costs through life maintenance.  Unlike traditional construction, the ISL/Bolles pool will never need to be re-plastered, re-tiled or re-painted.

“Myrtha Pools is a proud partner of the ISL brand in its inaugural year and is extremely excited to partner with The Bolles School for the pool’s final installation,” said Mike Mintenko, director of sales for Myrtha Pools USA. “Bolles has a long-standing tradition of excellence in academics, the arts and athletics. Myrtha Pools is the Olympic standard of competitive aquatics, and the ISL Finale Pool will be a wonderful legacy for future aquatics participants at Bolles.”

The new pool is part of the School’s plan to transform the Lobrano pool into a championship venue, adding not only a unique competition experience, but allowing for the expansion of the program into diving, safe competitive swim training and the growth of the total program.

“Our goal is to offer a program to develop people of excellence and elite performances and this new pool will take us to the next level,” said Peter Verhoef, Bolles Head Coach and Aquatics Director.  “We are excited to begin in January to create a comprehensive effort with our current families, alumni and community to complete our fundraising goals and engage our community in this vital effort.”

The Bolles School is a co-educational college preparatory day and boarding school serving students on four campuses in grades pre-kindergarten through twelve.
