Boston College Closes Regular Season With Sweep of Rival BU

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — In the final weekend of the 2021-22 regular season, the Eagles took down Tufts on Friday and Boston University on Saturday to conclude the season on a high note ahead of the ACC Championships in mid-February. On Friday at home, the women beat Tufts 231 to 68, with the men winning 203.5-96.5. On Saturday, the women beat the Terriers 181-119, with the men winning 211-88.

Five Boston College pool records fell on Friday night, along with one school record. Livy Poulin scored a 299.25 in the one-meter dive, resetting her own mark. On Saturday down Commonwealth Avenue at BU, two more school records were broken. Poulin broke her own record again with a 312.53, and Dale Nickerson set the new mark in the men’s one-meter dive with a 359.48, topping the previous best by 18 points.

To round out a dominant day from the diving team, Josiah Klock earned an NCAA Zone Cut in the one-meter (317.93) and three-meter (329.48) dives, and Angus Williams made the cut in the one-meter dive with a 321.45.

FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS: 
• The women’s 200 Free Relay of Katie DrummHaley DolanGigi Baldacci, and Sofia Zinis set the pool record with a 1:34.15
• Ryan Mathis set the pool record in the 50 Breaststroke with a 26.05, breaking his own record
• Jack Doyle set the pool record in the 100 Individual Medley with a 51.76
• Andrew Blusiewicz set the pool record in the 400 Individual Medley with a 3:59.86, breaking his own record by nearly five seconds

SATURDAY HIGHLIGHTS
• The women swept the 50 Backstroke, 100 Backstroke, 100 Butterfly, and 100 Freestyle
• The men swept the 50 Breaststroke, 100 Butterfly, 100 Backstroke, 200 Backstroke, 200 Individual Medley, and 400 Individual Medley
• Livy Poulin and Dale Nickerson set Boston College records
• Josiah Klock and Angus Williams earned NCAA Zone Cuts

The Eagles will compete in the Boston Winter Open at Boston University on February 4th and 5th.

BOSTON – The Boston University women’s swimming & diving team closed out its dual schedule on Saturday with a 181-119 loss to Boston College on Senior Day at the FitRec Competition Pool.

Senior Sezin Eligul (51.99) and sophomore Madison Kim (1:54.12) recorded wins in the 100 and 200 freestyle, respectively, while sophomore Sumi Cameron won the 3-meter diving event with an impressive score of 311.85.

The 200 medley relay team of Eligul, freshman Ashley Scafetta, Kim and sophomore Sydney Sorbello kicked off the meet with a winning time of 1:46.68.

The Terriers, who finished their dual schedule with a record of 4-4, will take a week off from competition before returning to action on Feb. 4-5, when they host the Boston Winter Open.

BOSTON – In its dual finale, the Boston University men’s swimming & diving team fell to visiting Boston College, 211-88, on Saturday afternoon at FitRec Competition Pool. The Terriers honored their senior class prior to the meet.

BU finishes its dual schedule with a record of 5-2.

Junior Kyle Falkstrom swept the 100 (56.99) and 200 (2:04.98) breaststroke events while classmate Sarsen Whatmore was first in the 200 free with a time of 1:41.41

The Terriers will take a week off from competition before closing the regular season on Feb. 4-5 when they host the Boston Winter Open.
