Boston University Adds Pennsylvania’s Jake Goroshko to Class of 2019

Jake Goroshko, a senior at Council Rock North High School in Newtown, Pennsylvania, has committed to swim for Boston University next fall. Goroshko swims for both his high school team and Central Bucks Swim Team under head coach Stu Kukla. Kukla shared his appreciation for Goroshko with SwimSwam:

“Jake has proven to be one of the best sprinters in the state of Pennsylvania. He is poised to have another great season after having finaled at the Tom Dolan Invitational this past December. Jake has qualified and finaled at the Pennsylvania State meet for the past three years. He specializes in the 50 & 100 free along with a fantastic 100 Back & Fly.”

In December, Goroshko went a lifetime best in the 100y fly and 100y free at Tom Dolan Invitational, winning the B-final in the latter. He achieved his best 100 back during finals of the 2014 PIAA Boys Swimming & Diving Championships. His top times are:

  • 50y Free- 21.29
  • 100y Free- 46.11
  • 100y Back- 51.37
  • 100y Fly- 51.42
  • 200y Free- 1:43.29
  • 50m Free- 24.20
  • 100m Free- 52.93
  • 100m Free (400 medley relay split)- 52.20

Goroshko told SwimSwam: “I’m more than excited to attend Boston University. I plan on majoring in engineering and minoring in business. Both my dad and I were born and grew up in Boston, so it’s an amazing feeling to be back in my hometown. As a senior, I will focus my time on leading both my high school and club team as captain.”

Boston University’s class of 2019 also includes Alex Ewart.

Already two years out of college coaching and I am confused by articles like this one. I actually went online to see if Swimming and Diving were in a signing period just to confirm (they are not).

So did he really sign, or is this a verbal commitment for the Spring period. Or just a late publication of a signing that took place during the fall signing period?
