Bradley Tandy, Top JuCo Recruit Ever? Makes College Choice

There was one earth-shattering recruit left to be announced this fall, and he has made his decision. Junior College transfer Bradley Tandy has given a verbal commitment to swim for the Arizona Wildcats next fall, after spending two seasons at the Indian River State College in Florida.

Tandy is the Junior College National Record holder in both the 50 and 100 freestyles. As a South African native, Arizona is a natural fit: Arizona has been the biggest hotspot for their talent for nearly a decade, with swimmers like Darian Townsend and Jean Basson, among many others, training there.

He’s going to have two years of eligibility left, but coming in with bests of 19.06 and 42.76, instantly becomes a National Championship contender. He will be a bit older than your average college junior, and physical maturity often pays off in sprinting.

The Wildcats will have two years of contending for sprint relay titles, at least, as they’ve also brought in Eric Risolvato, a true freshman, in the class of 2013. He’s a 19.6 in the 50 free and one of the best in high school history.

Arizona was badly in need of sprinting depth to beef up their relays, after significant graduations in the last two years, and Eric Hansen has gotten just that.

Greg Buckingham went from College of San Mateo to Stanford where he won several NCAA championships and Olympic medals. He is my nominee for top JUCO transfer ever.

Yea, they are going to be tough in the medleys! Probably a little better in the 200 than the 400, but great in both.

Makes sense; the entire 2004 Olympic gold relay swam there at one point or another. Any news on where Eric Bruck from Clemson is finishing up his eligibility?
