Brazilian Military Group Head To Asian World Cup Stops

With the next series of FINA World Cup stops about to commence a contingent from the Brazilian Military is set to join the participant list, leaving for Asia this Saturday. As reported by Blog do Coach the group will consist of; Sergeant William Guido, Captain André Santos (Team Leader), Sergeant Nicholas Santos, Sergeant Gracielle Hermann, Vinicius Waked Sailor, Soldier Raphael Rodrigues, Henrique Rodrigues Sergeant, Sergeant Fernando Silva, Sergeant Luis Arapiraca, Henrique Barbosa Sergeant and Sergeant Lucas Salatta.

The team will compete in Singapore, Tokyo and Beijing. They will be part of a Brazilian team that will total 23 in Singapore.

The World Cup competitions have not typically been part of the top Brazilians schedule over the last two years. This is a large departure from the 2010 season when Thiago Pereira took the World Cup title and the country had three men and one women place in the top 20 point scorers.

Santos who is the class of the field that will be attending the competition is coming off of a summer where he posted the top long course 50 butterfly, registering a 22.81 in the semi-final of the event at the World Championships in Barcelona. He also posted the top short course 50 butterfly time in 2012 of 22.22, four one-hundredths of a second faster than current World Cup points leader Chad le Clos.
