Breaststroker and IMer Grace Robbins Commits to Missouri State

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Grace Robbins, a senior at Bentonville West High School, has verbally committed to Missouri State University.

I chose MSU because of the amazing team environment, coaches, and the mutual love for each other and the sport!”

At the 2022 Arkansas 6A High School Girls’ State Championship, Robbins finished 3rd in the 200 IM and 5th in the 100 breast. She also swam the third leg of the 2nd-place 400 free relay, with a split of 53.62. As a whole, both the Bentonville boys’ and girls’ team swept the state titles; it was the girls’ fourth title in a row.

Robbins also competes for Northwest Arkansas Aquatics. At the 2022 NCSA Summer Swimming Championships, she finished 21st in the 200 breast with a time of 2:44.16. She also made finals at the 2022 Region VIII Speedo Summer Sectionals, finishing 17th in the 400 IM, 18th in the 200 breast, 22nd in the 200 fly, and 30th in the 200 IM.

Best short-course yards times:

  • 100 breast: 1:05.83
  • 200 breast: 2:18.66
  • 200 IM: 2:06.73
  • 400 IM: 4:27.89

Missouri State is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference. At the 2022 women’s MVC Swimming and Diving Championships, Missouri State won the title. At that meet, Robbins would’ve finished 5th in the 400 IM and 8th in the 200 breast.

Robbins will have a limited opportunity to train with some of the top 400 IMers currently on the team. Juniors Marina Ortega Bonilla and Lily DeSpain are the 3rd- and 4th-fastest 400 IMers in the conference currently, and Robbins will have at least one year to train with them when she arrives in the fall.

She will also have the opportunity to train with incoming freshman Hadleigh Henslee, who is also a breaststroker. Robbins’ 200 breaststroke skills are especially important, because the two Missouri State swimmers with times similar to hers this season–Yuliya Zubina (2:17.42) and Alessia Puleo (2:18.64)–are both seniors.

Robbins joins Henslee, sprint freestyler Cameryn Johnson, distance swimmer Claire Culberson, multi-stroker Olivia Sala, IMer Kennedy Grosklaus, and backstroker Caitlyn Friebe.
