Breeja Larson, Simone Manuel, Michael McBroom Win Big At Texas Senior Circuit Meet

Michael McBroom and Breeja Larson are swimming well in Texas at the Senior Circuit Meet in Austin.

Breeja Larson started off the night with a match up against Laura Sogar in the women’s 200 breaststroke. Larson ran away with the final, touching for the win with a time of 2:25.18. Sogar was second at 2:32.05. Will Licon won the men’s 200 breaststroke with a 2:15.48.

Kaitlin Pawlowicz get her hand on the wall to win the women’s 200 butterfly at 2:13.56. John Martens won the men’s 200 butterfly as the only swimmer to break 2 minutes. His final time was 1:59.71.

Simone Manuel, 17, and Lauren Pitzer, 15, finished first and second in the women’s 50 freestyle. They were the two youngest swimmers in the final and were the only two swimmers to crack 26 seconds. Manuel posted a winning time of 25.53 and Pitzer was second at 25.92.

Matt Ellis topped Jimmy Feigen to win the men’s 50 freestyle. Ellis touched at 22.53 and Feigen was second with a time of 22.59. John Murray was the only other swimmer under 23 seconds, with a 22.95.

Sarah Henry won the women’s 400 freestyle with an impressive 4:12.58. Michael McBroom had one of the biggest swims of the day, winning the men’s 400 freestyle with a time of 3:48.93. He was 3:49.26 at the Santa Clara Grand Prix. His time from today bumps him to 18th in the world this year.

2.32 for Laura Sogar? 😡

Very promising 22.53 for Matt Ellis.
He had shown great things as a young sprinter at the 2012 olympic trials when he swam 49.44 in the 100 free. He disappeared a little since then.
It looks like he’s again on the right track.
I’ve always believed he had the talent to represent the future of US sprint like Caeleb Dressel and was in the conversation for 2016 and 2020. Probably more in the 100 free in his case.
