Brett Feyerick Breaks Marciano NAG Record With 24.22 In 50 Yard Back

Nation’s Capital Swim Club 12-year-old Brett Feyerick broke a National Age Group (NAG) record at the club’s home invite Saturday, going 24.22 in the 50 yard backstroke.

Feyerick continues a long train of great young backstrokers who seem to be continually trading off NAG records as they move up through age classes.

The previous record was set just last year by Vinny Marciano, who also owns the 200 back record in the 11-12 age group along with some free and fly marks. While in the 11-12s, Marciano traded off backstroke records with Destin Lasco, who still holds the 200 back record in the age class.

This record puts Feyerick’s name back into the books. Feyerick had at one point held the 10&Under 50 backstroke record, but saw that get broken last spring by Ronald Dalmacio, yet another talented up-and-coming backstroker.

Feyerick won the 11-12 100 back at the NCAP Invite by over three seconds, blowing out the field en route to his 24.22. The previous record was a 24.32.

That stands up as as drop of seven tenths of a second for Feyerick, who only just broke 25 for the first time in his career last month at the PV National Age Group Team Challenge. Prior to that, his lifetime-best stood at 25.63.

Congrats to Mr Feyerick. Great swim.

I see you mention Mr Lasco in your article. I’m very disappointed by his meet at East juniors.
