British Sprinter May Bradburn Joins Northeastern

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

May Bradburn, a silver medalist at the 2022 British Summer National Age Group Championships, has joined Northeastern’s freshman class.

The strong swim and dive team, the co-op program and the excellent academics,” Bradburn responded to Northeastern when asked about why she chose the university.

Bradburn won silver medals at the National Age Group Championships in the 50m free, as well as bronze medals in the 50m fly and 100m fly. Bradburn was also a part of the Swim England National Squad in 2021 and 2022.

Bradburn also competes for the Basildon and Phoenix Swim Club, based in Essex. At the 2022 British Championship, she finished 5th in the 50m fly and 7th in the 100m fly.

Best short-course meters times (yards conversion):

  • 50 free: 25.90 (23.33)
  • 100 free: 56.42 (50.82)
  • 100 fly: 1:00.58 (54.57)

Northeastern University is a member of the Coastal Athletic Association. Last season, the Huskies finished 3rd at the Women’s CAA Swimming and Diving Championships, their best finish in program history.

If Bradburn can match her estimated SCY conversion times, she stands to make the A final of the 100 free, and is even competitive to be the top Northeastern scorer in that event. Already this season, Bradburn finished 5th in the 50 free during her first meet of the season against Rutgers. Her time, 24.31, was less than a second behind Kotoko Blair, who took home the gold of that event with a time of 23.91.

Also at the meet against Rutgers, Bradburn competed as part of the winning 200 free relay, along with Blair, Jamie Koo, and Mary Nordmann. Blair is a sophomore, meaning she’ll be a good training partner for Bradburn in the years to come.

In addition to swimming, Bradburn enjoys baking. She joins Nordmann, breastroker Joyce Wu, and distance swimmer Bella Busconi in the class of 2027.
