British Swimming Announces Their Portion Of The Duel In The Pool Team

A week after USA Swimming announced their roster for the 2015 Duel in the Pool, British swimming has officially announced that seven British Swimming national team members will be representing the European All Stars in Indianapolis at the IUPUI Natatorium this December.

The British contingent will be led by 2015 World Champions James Guy. Guy is coming off of a great summer. He out-touched Sun Yang at the World Championships to win Gold in the 200 freestyle and then won a silver medal in the 400 freestyle relay. He also anchored Britain’s winning 800 freestyle relay. Dan Wallace, another member of Britain’s 800 freestyle relay team, will also represent the European All Stars.

On the women’s side, a pair of World Championship bronze medalists will be representing the Euro all stars. Jaz Carlin won a bronze medal in the 800 freestyle and will be a favorite to win the distance events without Ledecky competing for the American squad, although Leah Smith should give her a run for her money. Siobhan Marie O’Connor is the other World Championship medalist competing. O’Connor won bronze in the 200 IM and also was also a member of the World Record setting mixed 400 medley relay.

Adam Peaty and Ross Murdoch, the two other British medalists from the 2015 FINA World Championships are not on the roster. Peaty set multiple world records, taking home three gold medals while Murdoch won bronze in the 100 breaststroke.

Swimmers can compete in a maximum of six events (individual and relays), and each team may enter up to four swimmers per individual event and one relay. A running score will be kept combining the points earned by both women and men to determine the winning team. The 2015 meet will be comprised of 15 events per gender (13 individual and two relays) with more than $120,000 in prize money on the line. The winning team will take home a portion of the winnings, while prize money will be awarded to the winner of each race. A bonus will also be awarded for any world-record swim at the event.

Athletes set to compete at the Duel in the Pool (11-12 Dec) are:

James Guy
Jazmin Carlin
Daniel Wallace
Hannah Miley
Andrew Willis
Siobhan-Marie O’Connor
Lauren Quigley

The european team will be a bit weak on breaststroke without peaty, Murdoch and jamieson participating they still have willis.
Now is Kazakhstan part of Europe or asia. Kazakhstan participated in the past asian games. I would have loved to see dmitry balandin at the duel in the pool.

A good group, not surprised Murdoch and Peaty aren’t swimming, but I thought we might see Jamieson. Still have Willis going though, the depth of British breaststroking amazes me.

I will assume He will swim the 200 free, 400 free, 100 fly, and maybe the 100 free along with relays.

Let’s see James go a 1:45+ for the 200 free. That would be a great building block for the season.

its scm so 1.45 would be more mediocre for his standards. a 1.41 would be very nice
