Brock Bonetti Changes Commitment to Texas A&M

Brock Bonetti from Bakersfield, California, has signed his National Letter of Intent to swim at Texas A&M University. His official pledge comes 6 weeks after giving an unofficial verbal commitment to Minnesota.

Bonetti has been 49.4 and 1:47.25 in the 100 and 200 yard backstrokes, and is good in long course as well.

Bonetti would have been a good signing with either team, as both teams are very good and very young in their backstroke groups. For the Texas A&M men, though, the sudden depth they have in the backstroke group should help relieve some demons of the past – as recently as the 2011-2012 season, Texas A&M had some serious struggles with depth in their backstroke group – only John Ariens was better than 50 seconds that season.

He’s a very long, lean swimmer who certainly has a lot of room to mature and strengthen physically, so his times should drop almost immediately upon his arrival at A&M.
