The Brown University Men’s Swimming and Diving program will welcome eight swimmers to the team this coming fall, as Head Coach Chris Ip begins his second season at the helm. Below are brief biographies of each swimmer:

400 IM – 4:00.00 (4:36.63 LCM)

Why did I choose Brown? “After my first visit to Brown, I knew the atmosphere among the student body and the feel of life in Providence was for me.  Follow up visits and meeting the team only reaffirmed this belief, and the commitment to the program (new pool, coaches) was an added bonus.  Overall, the blend of the high tier academics, the rising team in the Ivy League, and the comfortable social community made me choose Brown.”

Why did I choose Brown? “I went on a couple of Ivies visits and chose Brown because it stood out to me as a welcoming, relaxed but still very challenging place full of opportunities. People I met on the trip, including some of the swimmers, Coach Ip and Coach Dart, and even strangers, all made me feel comfortable; at the same time, I felt like I could achieve great things with so many hard-working people around, especially in the pool. Brown’s Open Curriculum was another reason I chose Brown, because I haven’t yet figured out what I want to study in college, and I am almost certain that I will find my passion at Brown.”

It’s one of the most beautiful pools I’ve ever seen in an amazing city. Good luck to the southerners getting adjusted to the New England winters!

Considering the new pool and coaching staff, I wouldn’t be surprised if Brown was a top contender in the Ivy League in the next few years.
