Bryant Women Sweep NEC Weekly Awards

Smithfield, R.I. – The Northeast Conference awarded three Bryant University women’s swim and dive team member’s weekly honors on Wednesday afternoon.

Alexa Rivera (Boynton Beach, Fla.) was named NEC Swimmer of the Week for her performance against UMass and Rider. On Friday vs. UMass, Rivera won in the 100 freestyle and the 200 individual medley with times of 53.50 and 2:12.07. She also earned third-place in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.58) and was a part of the winning relay team in the 200 freestyle relay. On Saturday vs. Rider, Rivera placed first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.64 and finished second in the 100 backstroke (59.71). This is the second time that Rivera has earned this award.

Kyri Chambo (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was named NEC Diver of the Week. Chambo finished second in the one and three-meter dives vs. Rider with scores of 222.83 and 247.28. She also placed third in the one-meter dive (188.89) and three-meter dive (207.68) vs. UMass. This is the fourth time this year that Chambo has been named NEC diver of the week.

Fellow freshman Erin Doruska (Ankeny, Iowa) was named NEC Rookie of the Week. Doruska won the 200 freestyle against UMass and Rider with times of 1:56.10 and 1:55.25. Doruska also placed second in the 200 backstroke (2:10.57) and the 100 freestyle (53.90). She was on the third-place team in the 200 freestyle relay. This is the third time that Doruska has received this award.
