Caeleb Dressel‘s final event at U.S. World Trials, the 50m free (21.53), marked his third win of the meet. He has four individual events qualified for World Championships plus a ton of potential relays. Dressel’s 50m free sits 3rd in the world, trailing Ben Proud (GBR) and Vladimir Morozov (RUS).
CAELEB DRESSEL ON 50m FREE: “It’s feels good, especially with the good company. There’s a lot of really fast guys in that heat. I just have to work on the my last 25m in the next few weeks. We’ll look over the schedule and figure out what we need to do to represent USA the best I can.”
How would you describe how Caeleb swims?
He kind of hydroplanes like Anthony Ervin.
Agree- he rides very high in the water. I’d really like to see split above/underwater video of Dressel. It looks like he generates an enormous amount of power from his legs and has a remarkably strong core.
His bio on here is due for an update. It doesn’t include his win in the 100 fly from this past weekend.
Is it just me or does it look like he can put on even more muscle? Don’t get me wrong, he’s very chiseled but it looks like he still put on more mass. It’s exciting to think how fast he can be come 2020. Afterall, he’s still only 20 years old.
More mass won’t necessarily equate to faster times in the pool. He seems to already have an absurd strength to weight ratio, so I’m not sure, at least for the benefit of swimming, how much more athletic and stronger he can get without putting on weight and losing his dynamic nature.
I greatly agree w/ Qualo here.

He’ll probably get heavier over the next couple years either way – dude’s only 21, prolly gonna get bigger – but he definitely doesn’t need to.
He’s still 20 years old
Dang, off my a month. Welp, my point is stronger then! Not really many guys that don’t cultivate mass through their 20s.
what a phenomenal athlete
