Closing out Santa Clarita Futures with his fifth event win was Clovis’ Gabriel Jett, who is committed to swim at Cal. Also highlighting the meet was 14-year-old Sydney Willson of Mission Viejo, who topped the women’s 1500 free final with a top-five U.S. age group time this season.

Jett easily won the men’s 200 IM final at 2:02.88, followed shortly by SoCAL’s Tonahuac Zinn placed second at 2:04.43 while DART’s Zachary Tan took third at 2:05.73. Jett first snipped his 2:06.25 seed with a 2:06.02 prelims lifetime best before smashing it by almost four seconds. That now puts Jett at No. 55 all-time in 17-18 history and No. 6 in the 17-18 age group this season.

Into the women’s 1500 free final, 14-year-old Sydney Willson took the win at 17:07.08, just holding off Cathryn Salladin‘s 17:09.61. Willson’s time was a 20-second drop from her seed time of 17:27.41. Willson now bumps up to No. 5 in the 13-14 age group this season.

During the distance session, Team Rebel’s Cameron Castro won the 800 free final at 8:19.22, followed closely by DART’s Hayden Ghufran (8:20.77) and Team Rebel teammate Cooper Kiel (8:21.96).

Also highlighting the women’s side was Beach Cities’ Jamie Brennan, who won two events on Saturday. Brennan first won the 200 IM final at 2:17.51, four-tenths ahead of Sierra Marlins’ Elizabeth Murphy (2:17.91). DART’s Audrey Portello rounded out the sub-2:20 top three at 2:19.79.

Brennan then transitioned to the 50 free final over no issue, dropping 26.08 to take her second event win of the session, dropping four-tenths from her seed time. Mission Viejo 15-year-old Teia Salvino placed second at 26.23. DART’s Charlotte Rosendale and Wolverine’s Jada Duncan touched within 0.01s for 3rd and 4th respectively, 26.27 to 26.28. On the men’s side, CSTI’s Lucius Brown took the win at 23.15, with Clovis’ Colby Hatton taking second at 23.20 and NOVA’s Leif-henning Kluever nabbing third with 23.28.

Reno’s Emma Karam won the women’s 200 back final at 2:15.72, Bulldog’s Emma Lepisova finished second at 2:16.82 while Sierra Marlins’ Murphy took third at 2:17.36. On the men’s side, Team Rebel’s McKay Mickelson won the final at 2:04.41, with DACA’s Robert Griswold taking second at 2:05.84.
