The Cal women have released their 2019-20 meet schedule, with a quieter lineup of oppoonents this season in comparison to last year. Among the changes, the Golden Bears will not compete against Texas, who defeated Cal last season, or Utah. The Cal women will also have more traveling to do as they will host just 4 meets this season instead of last year’s 6 home meets.

Unlike the women’s swimming team, the divers of Cal will now contest in 3 diving invitationals. A new swim dual meet addition to the schedule are the San Diego Tritons, who are also part of the Chick-Fil-A Invitational teams. In total, the Cal schedule, while still including a tough lineup of Pac-12 opponents, doesn’t have much in the way of a headlining non-conference dual meet. They will travel this season to the Minnesota Invitational, which is scheduled to feature a much-improved lineup of teams from last year.

Here’s a look at what the Cal women have coming up for the 2019-20 season.

Date Opponent Host
9/20 Queen of the Pool @ Cal Poly
10/11-10/12 Chick-Fil-A Invitational @ Fresno State
10/24 Washington State @ Cal
11/8-11/10 USC Diving Invitational @ USC
11/11 San Diego @ San Diego
11/21-11/23 Texas Diving Invitational @ Texas
12/4-12/7 Minnesota Invitational @ Minnesota
12/8 Minnesota Invitational Long Course @ Minnesota
12/21 San Jose State @ Cal
1/17-1/19 UCLA Diving Invitational @ UCLA
1/24 Arizona @ Cal
1/25 Arizona State @ Cal
1/31 USC @ USC
2/1 UCLA @ UCLA
2/15 Stanford @ Stanford
2/26-2/29 Pac-12 Women’s Championships @ Federal Way
3/1 Pac-12 Last Chance Invitational @ Federal Way
3/9-3/11 NCAA Zone E Diving Championships @ Federal Way
3/18-3/21 NCAA Women’s Championships @ Georgia

The 2019-20 Cal squad will be missing their big senior guns (Amy Bilquist/Katie McLaughlin) from last year, yet they still have Olympic gold medalist Abbey Weitzeil and rising sophomore Izzy Ivey. There are still a number of talented relay swimmers on the squad this season, along with a strong IM/mid-distance free group returning.

The Cal women will once again have an even more quiet front-half of their season, with only 3 meets to race at before their Minnesota Invitational in early December. Unlike most college teams, the Cal women will not participate in the Toyota U.S. Open as the invitational is the same weekend as the national meet.

The rest of Cal’s season is near-identical to last season, stacking up lots of duals in late January/early February against Arizona, Arizona State, USC, UCLA, and Stanford. The Stanford women defeated Cal last year, not only at their dual meet but at the 2019 Pac-12s and 2019 NCAAs, where Cal was second to the team at all 3 meets.
