California Sprinter Allison Cho Commits to Pepperdine

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

California sprinter Allison Cho gave her commitment to Pepperdine University of the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) for the 2019 recruiting class. The Valencia High School senior plans to major in Sports Administration after enrolling this Fall.

Cho swims club for the Canyons Aquatic Club of the Southern California LSC and brings tremendous leadership skills with her. She was awarded the Santa Clarita Athlete of the Week in April 2018, was a member of the 2016 Western Zone Diversity Camp and 2016 Southern California Swimming Diversity Camp, and was captain of the Valencia High School swim team.

“I am really excited to continue my academic and swim career at Pepperdine University! Thank you to my family, friends, teammates and coaches who have helped me through this process and to those who helped me get where I am today! Go Waves!”

The speedster earned her first Futures cut this past season in the 50 yard free (24.06) which would have finished 5th at the PCC Championships and been second best in the Lady Waves program this past season. Cho will bring immediate point scoring opportunities for Coach Joe Spahn. Her 100 free personal best would have earned 6th place at conference as well while her 100 fly would have garnered a spot in the consolation finals. That means the Waves can expect at least 50 points from her at the conference championship meet as a freshman; the team finished 2nd in the conference: 108 points behind Cal State East Bay.

Best Times:

  • 50 Free: 24.06
  • 100 Free: 52.91
  • 100 Back: 59.69
  • 200 Back: 2:07.54
  • 100 Fly: 58.85
  • 200 IM: 2:12.12

In 2018, Cho earned Sectionals cuts or better in all six events. She should fit in nicely and be in contention for relay opportunities her Freshman year based on current results as both her 50- and 100 freestyle would have ranked in the top four inside the Pepperdine program.
