Canadian Aysia Leckie Makes Verbal Commitment to University of Denver

Aysia Leckie of Georgetown, Ontario has made a verbal commitment to swim at the University of Denver next fall.

“The University of Denver was the right choice for me.  The campus atmosphere and the team dynamic made me feel comfortable and energized.  I know the coaches and the supports available at DU are going to push me to excel at swimming and in my academic career.  I can’t wait to join the Pioneers!”

Leckie currently swims with the Oakville Aquatic Club, Canadian national champions in 2015 and runners-up in 2016, under head coach Sean Baker. She excels in the full gamut of freestyle races. At the 2016 Ontario Summer Long Course Championships in Etobicoke this past July, Leckie won the women’s 16-17 50m free with 26.72. She placed fourth in the 100m free (58.40), sixth in the 200m free (2:08.08) and 400m free (4:31.96), and tenth in the 800m free (9:24.49).
