Canadian Recruit Dylan Phee Chooses Lafayette College

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Canadian distance swimmer Dylan Phee will be heading south to the Keystone State this Fall as he declared his commitment to attend Lafayette College (PA) of the Patriot League. The 17-year old will join the Leopards program and has initial plans to pursue engineering in his studies.

“I had been to Lafayette’s beautiful campus twice prior to my official visit weekend. Everyone on the team was so welcoming, and everything was so impressive that I knew there was no other school for me. To be able to compete in the Patriot League and study in one of the top Undergrad Engineering Programs in the U.S. is a dream come true. Can’t wait, Roll ‘Pards !!”

Phee is a senior at St. Mark Catholic High School in Greely, Ontario and swims club with the Greater Ottawa Kingfish Swim Club. He comes in as a distance free and butterfly specialist and will make the transition from SCM into SCY.

Best Times (SCM):

  • 200 Free: 2:02.39
  • 400 Free: 4:27.00
  • 800 Free: 9:03.18
  • 1500 Free: 17:04.68
  • 100 Fly: 59.29
  • 200 Fly: 2:10.16

Phee has had consistent time drops across all six events in the past four years. Notably, he saw top 6 finishes in the 100- and 200 fly (2nd place), and 200- and 400 free at the Gatineau Grand Prix (CAN-Quebec) in December 2018 earning best times in each. Taking into account time conversion from SCM to SCY, his 200 fly this past season would have ranked third on the Lafayette squad.

Phee will be the lone Canadian and one of two international swimmers on James Dailey’s men’s team this upcoming season. The 2018-2019 roster only had two international swimmers (male or female): Taylor Schumacher from Cali, Columbia and Naoki Nomura from Tokyo, Japan.
