Canadian Sam Cheverton Breaks Two Minutes To Win The 200 Freestyle In Ohio

We are seeing a handful of impressive swims coming from the 2014 Peppe / Bruce Memorial Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.

Aliena Schmidtke has had a strong meet, winning the 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly on Saturday. Her freestyle time clocked in at 57.15 and her butterfly was a 59.59. Josh Fleagle won the men’s 100 freestyle with a 50.92.

In the men’s 200 breaststroke, DJ Macdonald cut 11 seconds to improve to a 2:13.96, winning the event.

Sam Cheverton looked really good, winning the women’s 200 freestyle with a time of 1:59.98. She is currently a member of the Canadian national team, and has the potential to be a great relay swimmer at the Commonwealth Games. She was the only swimmer at this meet to break 2 minutes in the 200 freestyle.

Peter Lyon finished the session off with a win in the 100 butterfly, winning with a time of 55.96.
