Capobianco, Schnell Lead After Men’s 3-Meter, Women’s 10-Meter Semis At Nationals

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia – Olympians Andrew Capobianco and Delaney Schnell finished atop the men’s 3-meter and women’s 10-meter semifinal standings on Sunday to lead the field advancing to Tuesday’s finals at the 2023 USA Diving National Championships.

The top 12 divers in each event advance to the finals. Scores from semifinals will carry over into the final, and the top two finishers will qualify for this summer’s World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.

Schnell finished with 349.30 points and closed out her semifinal list with 84.80 points on an inward 3 ½ tuck that earned a 10 from one judge. She heads into Tuesday’s final with a 40.45-point lead over Nike Agunbiade, who finished second with 308.85 points. Jordan Skilken qualified in third place with 296.50 points.

Capobianco scored 449.20 points on his 3-meter semifinal list, including a reverse 3 ½ tuck that earned 94.50 points and a front 4 ½ tuck that went for 91.20 points. He heads into Tuesday’s final with a 36.85-point lead over Quinn Henninger, who qualified second at 412.35. Tyler Downs sits in third place with 402.70 points.

The 2023 USA Diving National Championships continue through Wednesday, May 24. Monday’s competition features quarterfinals and semifinals in women’s 3-meter and men’s 10-meter.
