Carlin Top Performer on the First Night of the Edinburgh International

Jazz Carlin was the top performer on the first night of the Edinburgh International swim meet winning the 400 freestyle in a time of 4:06.79.

Carlin left no doubt in anyone’s mind about who mid distance freestyler in the pool was this evening. She took the first 200 out in a time of 2:01.95 nearly three seconds ahead of Hannah Miley who turned in a time of 2:04.62. She then swam the second half of the race in a time of 2:04.84 touching in a time of 4:06.79.

Carlin was off her season’s best of 4:05.55 which she posted at the Golden Tour in Marseilles and is the third fastest time done in the world this year.

Miley finished second in a time of 4:13.13 holding off a fast charging Ellie Faulkner who finished third in a time of 4:13.32.

Stephen Milne took the men’s 1500 freestyle in a time of 15:18.91 almost seven seconds ahead of Daniel Jervis who finished in a time of 15:24.15.

Corrie Scott won the women’s 50 breaststroke in a time of 32.51 followed by Molly Renshaw who posted a 32.70. Sophie Taylor recorded the fastest time of the day in the prelims finishing in a 31.23.

Tom Shields took the 50 butterfly followed by Adam Barrett.

The 50s are all skins events. Just in case anyone thinks the times look a little slower than what would be expected.
