On Friday night, Carson Foster of Texas took on a big event load in the dual against NC State. He started things with best times in the 50 back (21.34) and the 200 free (1:32.29), which were only 1 event apart (women’s 200 free). Foster went onto swim the 200 IM (1:43.1, 1st) and about 25 minutes later, the 200 back (1:42.0, 2nd).
Carson is so versatile and talented that I genuinely think he could medal in 2 back at Paris.
2 back on the international level is comically weak and Carson ripped a 1:55 high at a random, untapered sectionals meet in Austin. Murph isn’t in his 2018-19 1:53 form and I think Carson could beat him out with a slight drop from his current PB
A problem, but one most swimmers would love to have. Good luck with your choices Carson!
Undoubtedly, one of the most articulate and positive ambassadors for swimming in general and esp. for TEAM USA! His stature on the international scene is already huge, and going into part II of this quad cycle, I can only see him exerting even more control and dominance in his areas of swimming. Bravo, on all accounts!
If Carson went to a particular school in Berekely I don’t believe you would have such kind remarks for him
2 aspirin @ bedtime;
call doctor in the morning;
5500 yards in the PM
you’ll be fine!
Kid is going to be busy in Paris
Potentially:
400IM
400 Free
200 IM
200 Fly
800 relay
Could also be in the mix for the 200 free if not for the conflicts
You meant to include the 200 Back, right? Then he would REALLY be busy.
I know we’re just funnin’ here but the fact is his skill levels are such that any of these CHOICES, if pared down according to schedule issues, is realistic.
I’ve only had a few interactions with him, but he always came across as a well grounded person. His parents did a great job raising him, and his brother and sister.
Good for you Carson. Good ambassador for our sport.
