Texas Longhorns took first place in the 800 free relay last night for the fourth consecutive competition year (not including 2020). With a time of 6:03.42, the relay team of Luke Hobson, Coby Carrozza, Peter Larson and Carson Foster shaved nearly half a second off of last year’s winning time, breaking their own NCAA, American and U.S. Open records.
Carson is TOO likeable. It’s just not fair.
I don’t know who said this but I am guessing it was Eddie or Freese
“Your 800 freestyle relay shows how hard your team works”
I guess all the other teams that win the other relays are lazy
It’s a great quote and to be honest it’s the truth
Carson is an amazing interview: he always seems to say the perfect thing, perfectly. And what a likable group!
(but wasn’t texas
secondin the psych sheet / heat sheet for this relay, so it’s not exactly earth shaking (I mean, the record is!!), that they did so well?)(EDIT: THIRD on the heat sheet!)
It was big due to their 200MR stumbling to 12th.
again, it was within expectations, so for them to make up for that 200MR, an unexpected result (to counterbalance) would be big. Not finishing within expectations
Texas mid D is inevitable
A nicely balanced interview that shows a level of self-awareness and the value of ‘the team effort’ among the athletes. Luke Hobson obviously made ‘the splash of his life’ when it really counted, and the other 3 legs of the relay just kept Texas going. After the very sub-par 200 medley, to bounce back this way, in record form – it says a lot about possibilities for the rest of the competition.
Texas just won’t do well on the relays this year, and that was known as soon as Kibler turned pro.
Doesn’t mean that we can’t make waves in the other events and give Cal a scare
Losing Van Zandt, Grimm, Drew, Alvin, Cam is a pretty big hurdle to clear.
I think momentum and self-confidence are incredibly underrated. Something tells me these four guys are feeling untouchable after that relay and the rest of the team is getting a flavor of it as well.
I’m pretty sure he is majoring in communications and leadership so his interview abilities make sense. Exceptional young man and his continued growth speaks volume to his underlying character.
“Sub-par 200MR” is being very generous
