Not only will Tiffin University add a men’s and women’s program, but Carson-Newman College in Tennessee has plans to do so as well. Announced Monday, the newest team of Eagles will make its inaugural appearance in 2013.

Carson-Newman Athletic Director Allen Morgan thinks the addition of the swim program is logical because they have the pool space and the competitiveness of local club teams in the area helps fuel interest. They’re still looking for a coach, and encourage anyone interested to contact them.

Morgan said the school’s goal is to become the “premiere division II school in the Southeastern United States,” and described the addition of the swim program as “one way we can do this.”

While Tiffin will be practicing at a Y for at least their first few years, the first team of Eagles swimmers will be lucky enough to have what Morgan describes as a “great venue,” complete with “touchpads, scoreboards, seating area for fans.”
