On the heels of multi-Olympic Cate Campbell reaffirming her commitment to pursuing Paris 2024, she has confirmed her new training home within her native Australia.
Since the early years of her elite career, Campbell had been training under storied Aussie coach Simon Cusack. She and sister Bronte had followed the mentor from places like Sydney to Brisbane to Knox/Pymble.
However, heading towards the next Summer Olympic Games, Campbell will be joining Damien Jones‘ outfit at Rackley Centenary in Brisbane.
“5th Olympics here I come (hopefully) 💪😛 Sorry everyone, you’re not done with me yet, I’ve decided I’d like to try and compete at my 5th Olympics. In the 6 months since Tokyo, I’ve had a lot of time to reflect and make a plan. My journey to my 5th Gamesis going to look very different:
– It is starting out with a 6-month European adventure, so you won’t see me in the pool for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
-for the first time in my career I will be training under a new coach. I am so excited to be joining Damien Jones’s squad in Brisbane when I get home
-Paris is going to be the main goal, so I am going to take my time getting back into peak performance to make sure my body can handle the strain.
.
I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my career. I hope you are as excited about this next adventure as I am.”
Among other athletes, Jones has had Olympian Tommy Neill under his tutelage, with the 19-year-old earning bronze as a member of the Aussie men’s 4x200m free relay in Tokyo.
We’ll be able to provide more details on these coaching changes as they unfold, including comments from Aussie national head coach Rohan Taylor.

So is she training with Cusack or Jones? Now I’m confused. Jones is what she said, but isn’t Cusack now there too? So maybe a combo?
Cusack and Jones aren’t at the same club and she’s going to Rackley (Jones).
I thought she was taking her talents to South Beach for a second

My understanding is Cusack has taken a role with Swimming Australia
NSW will probably pay her transfer fee back to QAS. NSW now advertising for coaches to fill positions but you can’t be from NSW. Time for a change or another review?
