On the girls’ side, St. Joseph’s Academy won the title with 314.5 points over the runners-up from Mount Caramel Academy (280).
St. Joseph’s Bethany Seagraves pulled off a successful double to help her team to victory. She picked up her first state title in the girls’ 200 IM, where she was the only swimmer under 2:10 to win it in 2:08.54. Her 100 back victory was arguably even more impressive, as she picked up her 2nd gold medal there in a speedy 56.68.
Also picking up multiple individual state titles to help his team to the championship title was Catholic High School’s Sion Cavana. He got things started in the 200 free, swimming a 1:41.66 to outpace Jesuit’s Josh Armond, who took 2nd in 1:42.99. He then raced to gold in the 100 free with a 46.88 ahead of Jesuit’s Noah Wilkins (47.11).
Rummel’s Thomas Vanderbrooke picked up 2 individual golds of his own, winning the boys’ 200 IM and 100 back. His dominant winning time of 1:50.80 in the 200 IM put him over 3 seconds ahead of the field. He returned to the pool for his 2nd win in the 100 back with a 50.06 ahead of Jesuit’s Charles Korndorffer (50.85).
