RIVERSIDE – California Baptist University swim and dive hosted Cal Poly men and women and the San Diego women on Saturday afternoon to open the 2022-23 home slate. The women claimed victory over both opponents, downing USD 171-121 while simultaneously topping Cal Poly 181-107. The men battled just Cal Poly and beat the Mustang men 180-121.
The men’s and women’s swim squads secured 11 race wins each, including a pair of relay victories each. Robert Moseley, Jonathan Reiter, Remi Fabiani, Michaela Trnkova, Faith Brazil, and Mia Maspers all secured wins in a pair of races on the day.
The divers dominated on the boards, taking eight of the 12 podium positions in today’s competition. Gael Jimenez shined again, setting a new 1-meter springboard record with a score of 3.74.05. Jimenez took the top spot in both boards, with teammate Evan Honer right behind him in second. Natalia Bedolla turned in a top-three program score in the 3-meter event, posting a 305.15.
Next up for the Lancers’ is the Purdue Invite. The three-day event in West Lafayette, Indiana, will take place from November 16-18 with prelims happening at 7:30 a.m. each day and finals going off at 3 p.m. Pacific time.
