A group of 15-16 swimmers from the Central Bucks Swim Team in Pennsylvania has cleared the 15-16 National Age Group Record in the mixed 200 yard freestyle relay.

The relay of John DevaneyElla Mae Gross, Viviana Vergara, and Quinn Buck combined for a 1:31.30 in the event final, which betters the old record of 1:32.30 that was set by St. Andrew’s in Florida earlier this year.

Record-Setting Splits:

  • Devaney – 21.74
  • Gross – 24.66
  • Vergara – 23.64
  • Buck – 21.26

The relay used a non-traditional male-female-female-male lineup for their relay. Most mixed free relays use a male-male-female-female order.

The relay finished 3rd behind a pair of teams from Greenwich, Connecticut (the Greenwich YWCA and the YMCA of Greenwich, which field separate teams). Both of those Greenwich relays, however, had swimmers on their relay that were too old to qualify for 15-16 records.

The 17-18 and 15-18 records in the event still belong to the Suburban Seahawks, who in 2018 swam a 1:26.54 in the event.

USA Swimming began recognizing mixed-gender relay National Age Group Records in 2018, and earlier this summer released the benchmark times required to set records.

The same group from Central Bucks will be shooting for the 400 free relay record later in the meet as well. The 15-16 record in that event is currently vacant, and USA Swimming has not released a benchmark time for the 400 free relay.

I think NCAP set a NAG record for 15&Over mixed 200 free relay. Their time was 1:26.1?, previous record was 1:26.54.
