The Mean Green’s Jasmine Abercrombie was announced as this week’s diver of the week for Conference USA. In 2014-2015 Abercrombie, who is in her senior year at North Texas, placed seventh at the C-USA Championships last year, which was good for an eighth -best performance in school history. She was also the team’s top performer on the three meter and platform, as well as the second best performer on the one meter.

This is Abercrombie’s second time winning this honor, she also received it in February of 2015. This is also the first Diver of the Week that the Mean Green have won under new diving coach Mark Murdock.

Head coach Brendon Bray told SwimSwam that “Jasmine is one of the hardest working divers we have ever had on our team and her award is very well deserved. It’s a product of all the hard work she has done leading up to it.” Of the award, Abercrombie stated “This honor helps to assure me that I am going in the right direction with a new coaching style and a new training style. And the whole team did phenomenal. If we continue to trust in the program we will only go up from here.”

Abercrombie and the North Texas swimming and diving team will return to the pool on Friday, Oct. 23, for a dual meet at Texas A&M.
