Chelsea Piers Junior Tyler Sicignano Delivers Verbal Commitment to Virginia

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Virginia has kept the class of 2021 recruiting ball rolling with the addition of Chelsea Pier Aquatics Club’s Tyler Sicignano. Sicignano comes from the same club program where current UVA freshman and budding superstar Kate Douglass trained in high school. A butterflier and sprint freestyler, Sicignano is already knocking on the door of scoring at the ACC level with his times as a sophomore. Last year it took a 47.14/1:45.68 to score in the 100 and 200-yard butterflies respectively as well as 20.01 in the 50-yard freestyle.

I’m very excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Virginia! Looking forward to continuing my academic and athletic career among some amazing people! #wahoowa #shift2021

At the ISCA TYR Summer Senior Championship this summer, Sicignano won the 200 LCM IM (2:07.94), 50 LCM freestyle (23.96), 100 LCM butterfly (56.14), and 200 LCM butterfly (2:02.59). He was also the 100 and 200-yard butterfly champion at the 2019 Speedo Champions Series in Ithaca (48.78/1:46.70 respectively).

Top Times in Yards:

  • 100 fly – 48.78
  • 200 fly – 1:46.70
  • 50 free – 20.99
  • 100 free – 45.95

Sicignano will join fellow sprinter Jack Aikins as well as Jan Karolczak, Matthew Styczen, Max Iida, and Colin Bitz as the confirmed members of the Cavaliers’ class of 2025.

The original title said “Junior National Champion”- it was edited afterwards.

Big Congrats to Tyler! Love the Chelsea Piers – UVA connection!

Editorial note: Jan Karolczak is class of 2024, not 2025.

It’s called the ISCA (at which he was a multiple time champion), not NSCA, which is probably what you are referring to. Either way look it up, it is a thing and not exactly a small meet either. So maybe you should educate yourself a little more before trying to take (cheap) shots at a kid for his college choice just because he didn’t choose your school.

Hahaha, but seriously Congrats Tyler!

I talked to someone being recruited by UVA and he told me DesorboEffect is a swimmer at UVA. LOL

This is the worst way to confirm something. “I heard from someone so its definitely true”.
