Great Britain’s Chloe Tutton broke a three year-old British Record twice in the women’s 100 breast, ultimately becoming the first Brit under 1:05 in a time of 1:04.79.
She first broke the record in the semi-finals, clocking 1:05.20 to lower the previous record of 1:05.39 set by Sophie Allen back at the 2013 Duel In the Pool in Glasgow. Tutton then went onto break the 1:05 barrier, clocking 1:04.79 in the final for another record and 5th place overall. This is the only individual British Record she has on the books, as Molly Renshaw dipped below her previous LC 200 breast record by 0.01 in Rio. She was on the team that broke the 4×100 medley record at the Olympics as well.
Tutton also swam the 200 breast this morning, just shy of the British Record in 2:18.89. The time qualifies her 1st for tonight’s final by over a second. The current record stands at 2:18.44 from Molly Renshaw, who also qualified for the final in 5th place.
Tutton will look for her second major international individual medal tonight, as she previously won bronze in the 100 breast at the 2016 European Championships in London. She just missed a medal at the Olympics this summer, taking 4th in the 200 breaststroke.

I believe she broke the British record in the 200m breast LC once or more last year.
