Chris Guiliano, Abby Arens Secure ACC Swimmer of the Week Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame’s Chris Guiliano and NC State’s Abby Arens were named the Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week, respectively, while Pitt’s Dylan Reed was selected Men’s Diver of the Week and North Carolina’s Aranza Vazquez Montano earned Women’s Diver of the Week honors for the first time this season.

ACC MEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Chris Guiliano, Notre Dame, Jr., Douglassville, Pennsylvania

Guiliano won three events in No. 17 Notre Dame’s meet against Pitt and Penn State, in which the Irish swept both opponents. He placed first in the 50 free (19.35), the 100 free (42.16) and the 200 free (1:33.75). The junior’s first-place time of 19.35 in the 50 free ranks third in the nation and the best in the ACC, while his 200 free time of 1:33.75 is second in the nation and also best in the league. His leadoff leg of the 400 free relay time of 41.63 is the fastest time in the 100 free in the nation this year. Guiliano helped the Irish to four relay wins in the 200 and 400 free and the 200 and 400 medley relays.

ACC WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Abby Arens, NC State, Sr., Raleigh, North Carolina

Arens tallied three first-place wins and three NCAA B-cut times in the No. 4 Wolfpack’s meet at No. 21 Arizona State, where NC State claimed the top finish in 11 of 16 events. Arens’ three victories came in the 100 (50.83) and 200-yard (2:08.94) breaststroke events before she rounded out her night with a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (51.91). She was also a part of NC State’s relay win, a 1:37.07 performance in the 200-yard medley relay, with her 27.19 split in the relay.

ACC MEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Dylan Reed, Pitt, Fifth Year, McLean, Virginia

Reed helped Pitt dominate Penn State and fell to No. 17 Notre Dame by less than three points over the weekend, taking first place in the 1-meter dive with his score of 412.95. He came in second in the 3-meter to his teammate for a 1-2 podium finish, with a score of 365.20. Reed registered two NCAA zone qualifying scores.

ACC WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Aranza Vazquez Montano, North Carolina, Sr., La Paz, Mexico

Vazquez swept both diving events in UNC’s victory over UNC Wilmington earning first-place finishes in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. The 2022-23 ACC Women’s Diver of the Year scored a 326.10 in the 1-meter and a 337.80 in the 3-meter, posting a pair of NCAA zone qualifying scores.
