Chuck Katis tries to lead Harvard through a Perfect Season

As a freshman at Harvard, Chuck qualified for NCAAs in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and earned All-American honors as a part of the 400 and 800 free relay at NCAAs. This year he’s already stamped his ticket to the big show with a pair of wins at the Georgia Invite in December. Those wins also made him the fastest breaststroker in Harvard history, with a :52.65 in the 100 breast  a 1:54.08 in the 200 breast. Chuck isn’t the only one getting it done for the Harvard Men. They’ve gong through their dual meet schedule undefeated, including a huge win at Princeton last month.

The Ivy League Championships start this week at Brown. Last year, Katis earned a pair of second place finishes and even though he won’t be fully rested or shaved this week, he seems fully confident in his and his Harvard teammate’s chances. In this interview with Garrett McCaffrey, Chuck and Garrett talk about his fabulous sophomore season, his goals for Ivys, and he even promises a magic trick at NCAAs…

Fun interview! Best wishes at Ivy’s and NCAA’s. Love the way he talks about his teammates as people beyond the pool.

Very cool guy. He swims (in the summer) for my old club team, NCAP, and he got very high quality coaching early on.
