GIRL’S MEET:

The Kingsburg High School women took the top seed in both the 200 medley relay (1:53.26) and 400 free relay (3:46.89) to bookend the session. Golden West High School heads into finals as the team to beat in the 200 free relay with their 1:45.61. Mackenzie Garza anchored that relay in 24.25 to give them a center lane in the final.

Tulare Western senior Khloe McCarthy was the lone woman under 2:00 in the 200 free, posting a 1:56.65 to take the top seed by a large margin. McCarthy was also well ahead of the field in the 500 free, taking another top seed in 5:08.13.

Kingsburg’s Morgan Coddington earned the top spot in the 200 IM, posting a 2:13.72. Beth Wilson (2:17.35) and Annika Ostrem (2:19.94) joined her under the 2:20 mark for 2nd and 3rd seed.

Golden West’s Mackenzie Garza took top seed in the 50 free, clipping the 25 second mark with a 24.90. Not far behind, though, was Wasco High School’s Abigail Abshire in 25.01. The two raced again in the 100 free, with Abshire taking the top seed in the longer sprint with a 54.48. Garza took 3rd seed in 54.91 behind Bakersfield’s Adria Golla (54.54).

Tulare Western’s Mallory Korenwinder had one of the most impressive swims of the session, posting a 55.62 to take top seed in the 100 fly by almost 4 seconds. Korenwinder struck again in the 100 breast, where she was even more dominant with a 1:02.10. That put her over 9 seconds ahead of the 2nd seed, Tehachapi’s Jessica Riggs (1:11.15).

Also under a minute in the 100 fly was Selma High School’s Brianna Colado. Colado went on to finish 1st in the 100 back with a 1:00.09, setting up a good finals race with Immanuel’s Lauren Geiger (1:00.43) and Golla (1:00.80).

BOY’S MEET:

On the boys’ side, El Diamente High School started out strong, taking the lead in the 200 medley relay with a 1:40.51. Chase Canteburry highlighted that relay with his 21.26 anchor. He was even faster than that on their 200 free relay, splitting a 21.22 to help them to another top seed in (1:29.60). Edison High School (3:21.26) took the top seed in the 400 free relay to close the session, getting sub-50 splits from Robbie Nunes (49.80) and Sam Crary (48.98).

Exeter Union’s Carson Brett landed top seed in the 200 free, posting a 1:45.57 to lead by over 2 seconds. He also made it into the final of the 500 free, where he placed 8th in 5:04.70. Placing 1st in that event was Independence High School’s Wyatt Suburu in 4:47.32.

In the 200 IM, El Diamente’s Callen Bruening was the only man under 2:00, claiming 1st in 1:58.39. He was the fastest finisher in the 100 back towards the end of the session as well, clocking a 54.02.

Individually, Chase Canteburry was the fastest in the 50 free with a 21.85. He’ll be hard pressed for the win, though, with Coalinga’s Cade Martin (21.98) just a tenth back. Canteburry also swam the 100 free, where he took 3rd overall in 49.45 behind Monache’s Zack Acencio (49.16) and Sam Crary (49.32)

Reedley’s Noah Haworth, Kingsbury’s Satoshi Shinkawa, and Tulare Western’s JD Koster took the top 3 spots in the 100 fly, all within the 53 range. Haworth was the fastest in 53.25, with Shinkawa (53.71) and Koster (53.94) separated by a couple tenths behind him.

Koster grabbed 2nd seed in the 100 breast, finishing in 1:02.49. Ahead of him was Kingsbury’s Owen Ansel, posting a top time of 1:01.57.
